About NRI

Who is Considered an NRI Candidate?

Eligibility for the NRI quota is determined by the respective counselling authorities and participating medical colleges. While the exact rules vary from state to state, applicants generally fall into one of the following categories.

NRI Candidate

Candidates or their parents who reside outside India and hold valid NRI status may be eligible to apply under the NRI quota, subject to the rules of the respective counselling authority.

OCI Holder

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders may be eligible for MBBS admission under the NRI quota where permitted by the applicable counselling regulations and institutional policies.

PIO Candidate

Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) may be considered for NRI quota admissions in institutions or counselling authorities where this category is recognized under the applicable admission guidelines.

NRI Sponsored Candidate

In certain states, candidates sponsored by an eligible NRI relative may be considered under the NRI quota. Sponsorship eligibility, acceptable relationships, and documentation requirements vary across counselling authorities.

Important Information : Eligibility requirements for NRI quota admissions are not the same across all states or medical colleges. Each counselling authority may define eligible candidates, accepted documents, sponsorship criteria, and admission procedures differently. Applicants should always review the official counselling guidelines for the state or institution they intend to apply to.

Eligibility

Who Can Apply for MBBS Through NRI Quota?

NRI quota admission is available only to candidates who meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by the respective counselling authorities and medical colleges. While specific requirements differ across states, most institutions follow similar guidelines for academic qualification, NEET eligibility, and NRI status.

Before participating in counselling, ensure you satisfy the applicable eligibility requirements.

NEET Qualification

Admission under the NRI quota requires a valid NEET UG score. Qualifying NEET is mandatory for all candidates, regardless of whether they are applying under the General, Management, or NRI quota.

Applicants should have completed 10+2 (or equivalent) with:
